Everything you need to fit and look after a glass splashback
Two things make fitting and keeping a glass splashback easy: the right adhesive and the right cloth. Parasilico Alcoxy 15 is the neutral cure silicone we recommend for bonding glass to plaster, plasterboard, tile or wood. It does not react with the painted or printed backing, so there is no risk of marks showing through the glass, and it stays flexible as the wall and glass move with temperature.
The microfibre cloths are the simplest way to keep the glass streak free. Used damp for everyday splashes and dry to buff, they lift grease without scratching and without the lint that a cotton cloth leaves on gloss glass.
Both can be added to a splashback order so everything arrives together.
How much adhesive do I need
One tube covers a typical 600mm to 900mm wide splashback. Run vertical beads around 100mm apart across the back of the panel, press it to the wall and support it for 24 hours while the silicone cures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why this adhesive rather than a general purpose one?
Many adhesives contain solvents or acids that can react with the backing on painted or printed glass and leave visible patches. Parasilico Alcoxy 15 is neutral cure, bonds strongly to glass and stays flexible, which is what a splashback needs.
Can I fit a splashback without adhesive?
Only the clear panel with pre drilled holes, which screws to the wall. Every other panel is designed to be bonded with adhesive.
What should I clean a glass splashback with?
A damp microfibre cloth for daily splashes and a standard glass cleaner for a streak free finish. Avoid scouring pads and cream cleaners, which can scratch the glass.
How long before I can cook after fitting?
Leave the adhesive to cure for 24 hours before using the hob. Keep the panel supported and avoid knocking it during that time.
