Heat Resistant Glass Splashbacks

(156 products)

Heat resistant glass splashbacks built to handle the temperatures generated by gas hobs, electric cookers, induction plates, and ovens. Every panel is manufactured from toughened safety glass that has been heated to over 600°C during production and then rapidly cooled, making it four to five times stronger than standard glass and capable of withstanding sustained heat without cracking, discolouring, or weakening.

Heat resistant glass splashbacks for behind the hob

Every splashback we make is toughened safety glass, which is what makes it heat resistant. Toughening heats the glass close to its softening point and then cools it rapidly, which puts the surface under compression. The result is a panel several times stronger than ordinary glass that tolerates the heat behind a domestic hob without any risk of cracking.

That applies to the whole range: coloured, printed, clear and custom. The colour or image is sealed on the back of the glass and cured during manufacture, so heat does not affect it either. Gas, electric and induction hobs are all fine, as are range cookers.

Choose any design or colour, pick a standard size, and the panel is dispatched in 1 to 3 working days.

Why acrylic and standard glass are not suitable

Acrylic splashbacks can soften and discolour close to a hob. Ordinary annealed glass can crack from the uneven heating a hob produces. Toughened glass solves both problems, and if it is ever broken it crumbles into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fit a glass splashback directly behind a gas hob?

Yes. Toughened glass is designed for it. Leave a small gap between the back edge of the hob and the glass, as you would with any splashback, and the panel will handle the heat from normal cooking.

Will heat discolour a printed or coloured splashback?

No. The print or paint is on the back of the glass and is cured at high temperature during production. The heat from a domestic hob is well below that and never reaches the backing.

Is toughened glass safer than standard glass?

Yes. It is several times stronger and, in the rare event of a break, falls into small blunt granules rather than sharp pieces. That is why it is used for car windows and shower screens.

Can I cut a toughened splashback to size at home?

No. Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after toughening. Choose the right standard size or use the custom service for cut outs and non standard sizes.
